Founded in 1994, Frontier Airlines is a low cost carrier headquartered in Denver, Colorado. Frontier operates a fleet of narrowbody aircraft, all of which feature the carrier's 'spokesanimal' logo on the tail. Frontier operates extensive services across the US as well Central America. Indigo Partners LLC acquired Frontier Airlines from Republic Airways Holdings in 2013.
In Feb-2022, Frontier Airlines and Spirit Airlines announced a USD6.6 billion definitive merger agreement to create a new, competitive ULCC. The merger was expected to close in 2H2022.
On 27-Jul-2022, Spirit Airlines announced the termination of its merger agreement with Frontier Group Holdings. Frontier Airlines reported Spirit Airlines is obligated to reimburse USD25 million of Frontier's incurred merger-related costs, as per the terms of the now-terminated Frontier/Spirit merger agreement. In the event Spirit enters into an acquisition with another party in the next 12 months, Frontier will be owed an additional USD69 million.
